Joel is an IP litigator with substantial experience in bet-the-company cases. He litigates patent infringement and validity as well as trademark, trade secret, copyright, and other intellectual property claims. He counsels clients to avoid litigation through solid in-house IP protection systems.

At the Patent Office, he specializes in post-grant practice: inter partes review, ex parte re-examination, reissue, and other flavors of patent post grant review. He also works closely with trial teams preparing patent portfolios for assertive litigation through rigorous “pre-examination” claim validity review and owner-directed re-examination and correction.
